茶山鎮位于東莞市中北部，全鎮面積45.1平方公里，下轄16個村民委員會和2個居民委員會。常住人口15.7萬人，戶籍人口4.5萬人。茶山鎮歷史悠久，人文底蘊深厚。據《茶山鄉志》載，梁武帝時（公元502—519年）鄉人創建雁塔寺，僧人沿山種茶，茶山之名由此而起，距今已有1500多年的歷史。自古茶山，人杰地靈，先后涌現出抗元英雄葉永清、理學家林光、兩廣提督謝遇奇等杰出人物。茶山境內現有南社明清古村落、東岳廟、麥屋古村等文化古跡。
